Cable & Wireless
Cable & Wireless Site
Background
Cable & Wireless, a major international telecommunications conglomerate, has worked with Red Ant several times over the years. Most recently, C&W was preparing to radically restructure its business, including exiting the domestic US telecom market. The company requested visual branding, user interface and information architecture for a complete website redesign and migration to a new Content Management System (CMS).
Roles
- Visual design
- HTML templates
- Content management system
- Style guide
Benefit
- Enabled widely divergent audiences to derive individualized benefits from a common set of case studies.
- Fresh online branding for C&W's global site.
- An audience-driven framework for the new site that had to provide superior navigation, while still accommodating certain content and functionality that would not change.
Solution
The design of the various pages such as the home page was in response to user testing and usage patterns.
By making the page design more users centric rather than based on the internal structure of the company, the site has become more effective at communicating key messages and assisting user tasks.
This project was quite complex, both in terms of design objectives as well as functionality. It took about 4 months to complete, and our final deliverable was a set of HTML templates, which were then implemented into Interwoven Teamsite.
We also delivered a comprehensive online style guide. This is used by site authors to find out what to do with particular content or look up particular templates & elements and understand how they should be used.
Dhtml flyout menu allows users to dig deeper in to the site.
Modular areas of the page that could be adapted for different purposes.
